Gurugram Metro Phase 2 civil package of Rs 1,662 crore gets Haryana's nod
1 October 2026 · Metro
The second half of Gurugram's new metro loop has moved a step closer. The Haryana government has cleared a civil construction package worth about Rs 1,662 crore for the stretch running from Sector 9 to Cyber City, and Gurugram Metro Rail Limited was expected to put the tender out in early October.
This leg runs roughly 14.5 km with 14 planned stations, passing through areas such as Sectors 7, 4, 5 and 3, Ashok Vihar, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension and Sector 22-23A. Two elevated sections of nearly 2 km in total are planned to carry the line over busy patches of Old Delhi Road and Bajghera Road.
Phase 1, the roughly 15.3 km run from Millennium City Centre to Sector 9, was awarded in August 2025 and is targeted for 2028. The report says Phase 2 should take around two and a half years to build plus testing time, with 2029 as the target for the full 28.5 km corridor. Financing shifted to KfW and the World Bank after the European Investment Bank stepped back, which had held up the tender until late July.
What it means for buyers: the corridor includes the 1.85 km spur towards Sector 101 on Dwarka Expressway, but it is still years from running. If metro access matters to you, plan around the official 2028-2029 targets rather than assuming an earlier date, and allow for the usual slippage on big rail projects.
