PM lays foundation stone for Gurugram metro with spur to Dwarka Expressway
16 February 2024 · Metro
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Gurugram's new metro corridor on February 16, 2024. The roughly 28.5 km line will run from Millennium City Centre through old Gurugram to Cyber City.
The project is estimated at about Rs 5,452 crore and has 27 planned stations. It includes a 1.85 km spur from Basai village to Dwarka Expressway. It will connect with the Yellow Line at Millennium City Centre and with Rapid Metro at Moulsari Avenue.
A new joint company of the Haryana and central governments, Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd, was set up in January 2024 to build it. At the time, the stated timeline was about four years from sanction.
What it means for buyers: this marked the formal start of metro plans touching the corridor. As later updates show, the targets have since moved to 2028-2029, so do not base your plans on the earlier timeline.
